Environment And The Company We Keep
As everyone knows, your success can be assured or devastated by the company you keep. No matter how competent and skilled you are, if you keep company with people who drag you down, you are dooming yourself to failure. On the other hand, if you keep company with people who are supportive of you and passionate about your vision, your success is practically insured. Luckily, you are completely in charge of the company you keep!
Another thing that has a very strong influence on your success or failure in life is your environment or surroundings. If you are in the wrong place at the wrong time, no matter how hard you struggle to succeed in life, you are bound to meet with failure. If your surroundings are depressing or isolated, they will have a negative impact on your life. That’s why it is so important to take control of your environment or surroundings and either transform them or shake the dust off your feet and find a more conducive venue.
Making A Fresh Start Can Be Scary!
You are sure to have heard the stories about people who have taken a leap of faith and stepped boldly into a new life in a new setting with new friends. It sounds as if this is an excellent way to get a fresh start and finally attain a happy, satisfying, fulfilling way of life, but it’s so scary! It can be very difficult to know where to begin, what human connections to seek out and how to find resources. Personal insecurity can also stand in the way. If you are shy or feel you do not deserve success, you may be holding yourself back. In this article, we will share some basic yet neglected lifestyle hacks for positive change that will help you chart your course and follow it to the life of your dreams.
Turn your attention inward
You know what you want out of life. Attaining your dreams in terms of relationships, career and simply enjoying life is not an impossible goal, but a lot of other people will tell you it is. Listen to yourself. You know what is true for you!
If you couldn’t fail what would you do?
Where would you live?
What would a normal day in your world look like?
Identify your destination
Before you begin trying to connect with people who can empower you on your journey, find your destination. Before you can be the change you hope to see, you must identify exactly what that change is. Take some time to journal, meditate, research, study and pray on your life goals. When you have them clearly identified in your mind’s eye, it will be easier for you to connect with people who share your vision.
Think of the type of person you want to know. Write out descriptions. Make a list. If you know specific people whom you wish to cultivate, make a list of their names. If there are leaders in your line of work you wish to meet, add them to your list. Think of ways to connect. Don’t be shy!
Think about all the people you know now. Between actual and virtual friends and acquaintances, you probably already know quite a few people who would be happy to know you better and support you in attaining your dreams in life. Reach out to these people and make an effort to get to know them better. Have lunch, Skype, email or pick up the phone.
Just as you are seeking out people who share your vision, it is also wise to move away from those who dilute it. People who are negative, do not take you seriously or even undermine you will not help you. These may be family members or people you have known for a long time, but it is important you realize that you’ll need to put some distance between you and them if you want to succeed.
Once you have refined your group of connections and kindled some interest with people you already know, let your social network know what you are up to. Talk with people, update your online status, make phone calls and so on letting people know that you are gearing up for some positive life changes. Ask for their support in attaining your success. You’ll be surprised by how many people will help you get situated in a new city, provide leads or introduce you to others who can help.
It’s great to have online friends, but don’t let this prevent you from taking good care of your actual friends. Be sure to get together with the people you know and care about and spend some quality time. Cultivate your online friends and make real connections when you can by meeting with them or at least talking with them on the phone or using Skype or Google Hangouts.
Whenever you meet somebody who is just as passionate as you are about whatever subject, true meaningful conversations unfold, that can’t be replaced by reading words on your monitor. You will notice that most defensive barriers that people have are essentially non-existent when interests, goals and passions are aligned. This is a great way to build genuine, lasting connections that will be mutually beneficial for both parties.
Remember it’s not all about you! Think of the ways you can help others meet their personal goals. Offer assistance and always be ready to pay it forward!

This may not be necessary, but if your home does not support your goals, it’s time to move on. If you want to make positive connections, you need to be in an environment where you can find positive, empowering people. If this does not describe the place where you live, it’s time to begin looking for a new venue.
Sure, it’s safe to keep to yourself, but remember “nothing ventured, nothing gained”. When faced with a choice, make it a point to always choose the outgoing option. Go to local events, take the first step in starting a relationship, take a chance. You may fall on your face, but then again, you may succeed!
One Step Begins Every Great Quest!
Most people settle for safety, but you don’t have to do that. By clarifying your goals, eliminating negativity from your life and taking positive steps to make connections that will help you attain them, you can have the life you have always wanted. You are in charge. One thing is certain: If you feel the need for change and do nothing, nothing will change. On the other hand, if you begin taking incremental steps, you will move closer and closer to your life goals, and you will eventually arrive!
