where career minded individuals go to for career advice
The average job seeker tends to change jobs every 2.4 years and switch careers completely every 4.6 years.
Millions of jobs go unfilled in countries with unemployment problems
The funny thing is that so many job seekers focus on a blind online strategy towards employment. This means job seekers find advertisements and apply for a job that way. The highly ignored fact however is that 80% of the jobs are not listed online.
People tend to have many misconceptions that are outdated such as job hopping being a very bad thing and climbing the career ladder being the ultimate success story. I remember after graduating there was hardly any actionable advice available. Every article I read was about “how to dress for your interview” and “how to answer the question regarding my strengths and weaknesses”. In my entire recruitment career I have never asked anybody those irrelevant questions.
There also seems to be a major lack of direction and purpose when it comes to the careers people chose. For the most part its a series of different jobs that has never provided much enjoyment or fulfillment of some sort. People who are well into their 30’s find it difficult to create a career path that they are happy about.
